Buynak city
was called Temir-Chan–Schura and stayed as an
administrative center of Daghestan. It was called as
Door to Mountains because it is founded on the roads to the mountainous region.
Having
historical works, Buynak was the center before socialist
revolution for scholarship with its five schools of theology.
In this time, the city had
the only public library in the country. Little establishments and canned food
plants were the only industrial establishment in the city.
Today, Buynak is an
important cultural and industrial city in Daghestan.
Being demolished by the
earthquakes in May 1970 and January 1975, the city was rebuilt with its new
buildings and cultural premises.
Today, there are many
industrial establishment in the city such as shoe plants, fruit canning plants
and meat preserving establishments.
